The Chac Mool (or Chacmol) is one of the most iconic artefacts of the Mesoamerican region and is a complex which spans into the region of the Antilles. The enigmatic figure was first discovered and named by Augustus Le Plongeon and his wife Alice Dixon in the late 19th Century, who’s highly intuitive work led to influential discoveries about the Maya culture and the relationship between the psyche and folk memory.
